What is fixed asset verification?

Fixed asset verification is the physical check of a company's fixed assets — plant, machinery, IT equipment, furniture and vehicles — to confirm they exist, are in use and match the Fixed Asset Register. Under the Companies Act 2013 and CARO 2020, management is expected to verify fixed assets at reasonable intervals.

Long Shot verifies and tags fixed assets at scale across India — CA/CMA-led teams, barcode/QR tagging in the Long Shot app, and a geo-tagged photo for every asset.

How a Long Shot asset verification works

  1. Scope

Fixed Asset Register, locations, asset categories and tagging format agreed with your team.

  2. Schedule

Teams assigned from the nearest pincode and site visits planned around operations.

  3. Verify & tag

Each asset located, checked, tagged with a barcode/QR label and photographed in the Long Shot app.

  4. Reconcile

Physical findings matched against the FAR; missing, excess and untagged assets flagged.

  5. Report

Certified, location-wise verification report delivered within 24–48 hours of fieldwork.

Tech-Enabled Asset Verification

Every asset is tagged, scanned and photographed in our own field app, then matched against your Fixed Asset Register — so discrepancies surface during fieldwork, not at year-end.

Barcode & QR Scanning in the Long Shot App

Tagged assets are scanned straight into the app, so each verification cycle is faster than the last.

Geo-Tagged Asset Evidence

Every asset is photographed, timestamped and pinned to its location — an evidence trail your auditors can rely on.

Standardized Verification Checklists

Existence, condition and usage are recorded the same way at every site, plant and branch.

Live Dashboard & FAR Reconciliation

Findings sync as they happen and are matched against your register, with discrepancies flagged on the dashboard.

Fixed Asset Verification FAQs

What is fixed asset verification?

Fixed asset verification is the physical check of a company’s fixed assets — plant, machinery, IT equipment, furniture and vehicles — to confirm they exist, are in use and match the Fixed Asset Register (FAR). Any missing, excess, idle or untagged assets are identified and reported.

What is the difference between fixed asset verification and asset tagging?

Verification confirms that the assets in your register physically exist and are in the recorded location and condition. Tagging puts a unique barcode or QR label on each asset so it can be identified and scanned quickly in every future verification. Long Shot does both in the same visit.

Does fixed asset verification help with Companies Act and CARO 2020 requirements?

Yes. CARO 2020 requires the auditor to report whether fixed assets have been physically verified by management at reasonable intervals and whether material discrepancies were found. Long Shot’s FAR-reconciled, evidence-backed reports support management’s verification and the auditor’s reporting.

How often should fixed assets be physically verified?

Most companies verify fixed assets at least once a year, or on a phased programme that covers all assets over a period of up to three years. High-value or movable assets such as IT equipment are often verified more frequently.

Who conducts the fixed asset verification?

Verifications are led by CA and CMA professionals from the Long Shot network, supported by trained field staff who tag and scan assets using the Long Shot app.

How long does fixed asset verification take?

Site visits are planned around your operations, and Long Shot delivers a certified, location-wise verification report within 24–48 hours of the fieldwork being completed.

Which locations does Long Shot cover for fixed asset verification?

Long Shot covers 2,000+ cities and 19,000+ pincodes across India through a network of 1,00,000+ trained professionals, so plants, branches and offices in tier-2 and tier-3 towns are covered too.
